Laser Peel (The Erbium Weekend
Peel)
The Harmony Erbium:YAG 2940nm laser
Laser resurfacing at the Laser Center of NYC works by peeling away the older, wrinkled,
sun-damaged layer of skin, and allowing a new layer of skin to emerge. As a new skin layer appears, it comes with a brand new layer of
healthy collagen, which is why the appearance of wrinkles is
dramatically improved. Because this is your own collagen, it will stay
as part of your skin for years to come. The laser peel is
performed as an out-patient procedure in the Board Certified Plastic
Surgeon's Manhattan, New York office.
The Harmony Erbium:YAG 2940nm laser module is used by the Manhattan,
New York Laser Center to remove the top layer of the skin. The depth of
the peel depends on the power settings and the number of passes used.
The Erbium laser peel can provide a partial to full epidermal removal
(20-50 microns deep), as opposed to microdermabrasion which acts only on
the stratum corneum layer of the skin (10-15 microns deep). In addition
to its beneficial effects on the outer layers of the skin, it also
stimulates collagen production and remodeling in the deeper layers. The
laser peel procedure performed in the Manhattan Laser Center is more
controlled than a chemical peel and it avoids the use of harsh chemicals
to refine the skin. The Erbium Peel results in minimal downtime.
With the controlled resurfacing associated with this more aggressive
peel, one may see tangible and visible results in just one laser
procedure.
